History

The first references to peach trees are found in ancient Chinese writings of the 20th century BC, where they were considered trees with precious fruits, appreciated by emperors and nobles, and whose flowers and branches offered protection from evil and misfortune. The peach tree was in fact a symbol of longevity, renewal, rebirth and purity.

According to one of the many legends about this plant and its flowering, the peach tree was first discovered by a fisherman, thanks to a very curious stone fruit he found inside the belly of a big fish. After deciding to bring it into his home, in Spring this curious thing gave him beautiful pink flowers. The name of the peach would therefore derive from the way this tree was harvested.
