History

With its characteristic hint of vanilla, combined with hints bitter almond and mountain hay, tonka bean is a very important and well-known raw material in every perfumer's palette. Born as an alcoholic tincture in 1800, its predominant scent, sweet and creamy, derives from coumarin: an odorous molecule also used for the production of vinyl glues.
