Vanilla

Dark, spicy and deep, vanilla is a warm, woody and gourmand olfactory note with animalic nuances. Decadently sweet, it is widely used in amber accords for its ability to perfectly match with notes of warmth and sensuality.

The origins of Vanilla planifolia, discovered in the "Land of the Shining Moon" by the nomadic population of the Aztecs, merges reality and legend.
In fact, among 30.000 known species, it is the only variety of orchid to produce an edible pod with an irresistible scent. In the the Mexican rainforests tradition, it was believed to have been born from the divine love between a princess and a local prince: an emerald green vine, so beautiful that it could not be wasted for human love, strongly attached to his tree through a delicate embrace of love.

Considered one of the most intoxicating essences that nature can offer, when it was first introduced into Europe by the Spanish leaders, vanilla caused a real infatuation. Its fragrance was specially loved by the French court: Madame Montespan used it to perfume bath water, while King Louis XIV, considering it an aphrodisiac, decided to try growing it on the island of Bourbon.
