Fig

Aromatic, woody and fruity, fig is an olfactory note that contains enveloping, fresh, green and subtly floral scents. Thanks to its light and milky facets, it adds sweetness and balance to the notes it combines with.

The fig plant, native to the Middle East and Western Asia, is one of the oldest centuries-old plants, widely cultivated and widespread throughout the Mediterranean basin. Its evocative scent echoes the places where it grows spontaneously, the sun, the sea, its majestic foliage and the sweet pulp of its fruits. Considered the tree of life, in Egyptian culture it was used for the production of sarcophagi.

Represented as the tree of fertility but also of knowledge, in all cultures, both the shape and the fig nectar have contributed to its aphrodisiac reputation. The Indians considered it sacred to Vishnu, savior of the world, while the Greeks consecrated it to Dionysus, god of renewal. Even today, in North Africa the fig is a symbol of fertility.
