Description

Absinthe is a green and invigorating olfactory note, rich in earthy scents, with inebriating and sweet factes. In combination with other essences, it is mainly used as a top note to give a particularly aromatic character to fragrances.

History

For French Bohemians, absinthe was at the center of artists' gatherings and was consumed in large quantities as it was considered an inspiring muse. From Verlaine to Oscar Wilde, Rimbaud and Baudelaire, various poets and artists composed their works under the effect of absinthe, which became an artistic tool dedicated to unhinging the senses and achieving a sort of clairvoyance.

Known in ancient Greece as apsinthion, the absinthe plant was considered sacred to Artemis, goddess of wild nature, hunting and childbirth. Thanks to their bitter taste, popularly considered a cure-all, its leaves served as an antidote to poisons.
